Since settling in Columbus, he has produced & directed a number of films, including, Safe House, Turkey Day, A Cold Blood, and recently the first Columbus-based sitcom web series,Two Doors Down, his most personal project to date.  Louie is also a published author in the book "Should I Stay or Should I Go", his film A Cold Blood has been shown at the Wexner Center for the Arts and Turkey Day was awarded Best Film at the Wilmington Delaware International Film Festival. Challenging points in his career so far have been 5 months of living in a youth homeless shelter in New York City, and an incident that he could never forget ... when he was performing his personal cabaret on the "Achille Lauro" cruise ship and it caught on fire and sank 3 days off the coast of Somalia! (True to his mantra of turning lemons into lemonade, he fortunately captured the entire event on video and was able to sell the footage to CNN)

High points have been finishing his first short film "Safe House", winning the Cape Times Best Actor in a Musical Award in 1989, the launch of Two Doors Down - the web series, and the birth of his son in November 2001.

Kandee Johnson - Fashion and Style Contributor
Kandee Johnson

I was born in a suburb of Los Angeles...a very long time ago. In the '80s you could find me drawing fashion collections, various drawings I would sell door to door, pretending I was in movies, setting up little scenes and taking pictures of them (thank you mom for letting a 6 year old take pictures with your fancy camera), playing Barbie's with my sister, watching Saturday morning cartoons, and eating Doritos after swimming and not only being a member, but one of the founders of the "Click Clack Cadillacs"- a roller skating club that consisted of me, my neighbor, and my little sister, Tiffany.

THE 90's: (Many things happened in the 90's - consider yourself warned! Modeling, marriage, baby, divorce, beauty school (ugh)....
I go to high school - not many pleasant experiences -
1. eat lunch by yourself, it's awesome - no one interrupts your digestion.
2. eat lunch with your teacher in art class - so no one notices you're eating by yourself.
3. get made fun of and not invited to anything that the "cool" girls are doing.

Do extra courses so I can graduate early and get a job at a clothing store- so I got to dress cute.

Get discovered at my job in the Mall, by a modeling scout, and I leave for Asia within months. I return home after living in Taiwan and Hong Kong and remember what it's like to speak English again.

Fast forward through me getting married, having a son at 18, some definite character building times in my life.I then went to beauty school....start doing make-up....

to WATCH MY STORY CLICK HERE to see a little more....

Then working on movies...

BECOMING A CELEBRITY make-up artist, working for amazing companies like MTV/VH1, CNN, ABC, CBS, VISA, VANS to The Tonight Show....and with celebrities from famous talk show host Conan O'Brien to the "world's first supermodel", Janice Dickinson.

Austin Blood

Austin Blood is a well-respected writer and high-profile blogger who runs #1 blog on the internet dedicated to the adoration of the human female; AustinBlood.com

But don't take our word for it. Here’s Austin in his own words:

“I’ve been blessed with a raging, over-the top, all-consuming fascination with the better half of the human race. And I’m sure as hell not talking about men. There’s no question why God created Adam then Eve….even exalted deities do better work the second time around. And the good Lord’s over-the-fence grand slam on day six of creation is history’s finest example of the sequel trumping the original. Yet for some reason we live in a society that still views women as though they are the weaker sex. How ridiculous is that? Women today are more influential and inspirational than ever before and that’s created a seismic cultural shift of epic proportions. In response, I’m here to share a unique and cutting-edge perspective on a variety of provocative issues and challenges that women face every day. What makes me different is I bring an open-minded perspective on issues many people take far too seriously. And I do it all in a way befitting a man who adores women like no other….”

In my spare time I am running kids to softball & soccer, coaching cheerleading, volunteering time to the pto, organizing parties and school dances, writing lesson plans, beating my kids (I should stop the sentence right there, but for legality purposes I will add…) in just dance (oh yea, I got moves!) & drinking coffee like it’s no body’s business just to have the energy to keep up.

Suzanne Duret - Business Contributor

Suzette

Founder, ShowcasingWomen.com and KineticBusinessAdvisors.com

I started with nothing but sheer ambition. Now I use my experience from the entrepreneurial trenches to help others rise up and make money while being happy in their pursuits. I see what you’re missing… or what you’re afraid to pursue, and help you reach your goals with greater income. I call this “Monetizing Your Infinite Possibilities.”

After leaving Minnesota for the warmth of Florida in my twenties, I ultimately embarked upon my very first entrepreneurial venture, a medical products company.  With no previous experience, my business partner and I set out to start a new company with my partner’s medical inventions. We gave new meaning to “Murphy’s Law” by making every mistake in the book, and creating some new ones too. But those mistakes are now a part of my valuable bookshelf of first-hand lessons in business and life do’s and don’ts.  That first business was successfully sold, just a short 21 months later, to a major medical company.

From there I wrote Inventing For Wealth, with a Foreword by Tony Robbins. And over the years I’ve written business plans, raised millions in venture and angel funding, developed commercials and infomercials, built a national sales and distribution force, negotiated commercial real estate acquisitions, started several online businesses, tackled every facet of operations and management, located and negotiated manufacturing for a variety of products, implemented quality assurance and back-up initiatives, as well as hired and managed outsourced warehousing, graphic artists, software designers, legal and accounting advisors, marketing and PR, and the list goes on.  Whew!  (Ahem… all without a college education – so go for it ladies.)

I am your coach for “Lighting a Fire Under Your ASSets!”  Join me at www.ShowcasingWomen.com

Savanna Bauer - Teen Jane Contributor

SavannaHello, my name is Savanna Bauer I am 15 years young, and some of you may know me as 312Savanna from YouTube. It has almost been two years since I have started my channel back in eighth grade. My eighth grade year I was home schooled because my gymnastics schedule made it hard to keep up with everything if I were in public school, and I wanted to try something new. Everyday after I finished my school work I would get on YouTube and watch girls do make up and hair tutorials for the longest time. Soon after that I would go in my room and start putting on make up and talking to myself as if I was making a YouTube video, when in reality there was no camera, and nobody was around. Eventual-ly I started making videos in front of the camera and I was pretty shy at first, but after making a few videos I started to warm up to the camera. http://www.youtube.com/user/312Savanna/videos

When I first started my channel I never would have thought I would have as many viewers or subscribers as I do now. I always try to aim high with whatever I do, and I try to be the best I can be at doing it. There is always room for improvement, and practice really does make perfect.

My hair tutorials are the most popular videos I have on my channel. When I was little I would play with my Grandmothers porcelain dolls and she taught me how to french braid. I was really into Bratz dolls when I was younger and I would always try out different hair styles on them, like french braids, buns, and I would even try to give them hair cuts. One time I took nail polish and I painted one of the dolls faces because I was trying to do the dolls make up. I guess you can say I've always been drawn to doing make up and hair without even realizing.

Baby Stylista - Fashion and Style Contributor

BabystylistaDeBalino (“db”), also referred to as the baby style whisperer, is an LA-based Baby/Kids Stylist, Fashion blogger and Owner at www.babystylista.com.  Since 2000, she spent most of her working hours in the Entertainment industry juggling a life primarily focused on Television and Film as well as Music and performance.  Throughout her career – her passion for fashion has always been integrated, but it wasn’t until the birth of her baby girl and In-house fashionista, “LD”, that fashion took the front seat in her life.  Spending most of her life from childhood to present day, referencing Vogue Japan and every makeover show on air, she would “style” whatever she could – from her dolls, to her peers, to the family dog.  With her obsession with apparel and accessories starting at such a young age, it’s no wonder that motherhood inspired a life surrounding all that is baby and fashion... where the playpen meets the runway.

Often times, what goes hand-in-hand with Motherhood is the ongoing search for the best deals, unsurpassed quality, and convenience.  That was when BABYSTYLISTA, her second baby, was born.  She took it upon herself to be the advocate for all style-hungry and exhausted mothers out there, as she makes her way around the fashion globe - from LA to New York, Japan to the UK - online and offline - while hunting for the coolest and most unique outfits, biggest bargains, and best goods and services for her baby, and theirs.  Her website and Pinterest recommendations feature some of the most eclectic, unique and diverse looks for children, and continues to grow in loyal followers and readers.

However, as a mother, DeBalino defines style - especially in the world of children’s fashion - as all-encompassing, in which the emphasis on image, trend, and labels is replaced with self-expression, confidence, and individuality.  Her ultimate goal is to inspire her daughter and all young children to embrace their unique qualities, discover their inner beauty, and be empowered to utilize their own sense of style as a catalyst to express themselves... And to own it.  She strongly believes, “What a child chooses to wear at any given time is a reflection of how they want the world to see them.  It is our job as parents and caregivers to give our children the right tools, and to direct them towards a path of acceptance - embracing who they are, acknowledging their potential, and striving for excellence.”

BABYSTYLISTA’s ongoing mission to spread the spirit of self-expression and individualism through style, can only be achieved with the help of her readers and affiliates in reaching out to children in need.  Through “Baby Gives Back”, BABYSTYLISTA works hand-in-hand with local and global charitable organizations in donating to impoverished children in need of clothing and toys.  In addition, with the “Baby Got Yo Back” campaign, BABYSTYLISTA’s ongoing efforts in raising awareness for Neuroblastoma, a rare type of childhood cancer that develops in infants and young children - inspired by a very special toddler friend, is currently in development.

With a little creativity, an open mind, and a generous spirit, one can achieve a balance of cute and confident – and it starts with baby’s first chino trousers, tweed booties, and matching fedora.

Here’s a peek into her everyday life as a Baby Stylist, accompanied by her fashion muse: Lights, Camera... Fashion!

The Frugalista - Lifestyle Contributor

Frugalista

I’m like the Tina Fey and Laura Ingalls of the PTA. I’m a goody-two shoes wrapped in a gooey layer of sarcasm, inappropriateness, and goofball.

I’m not quite 40. My kids are my life. Emma (11) and Owen (8). My husband James (41) is a VP of a start-up software company. I don’t work out of the home but I used to work in retail, cosmetics to be exact, and I was an executive assistant for a start-up company many moons ago.

I volunteer with the PTA in my children’s schools and I’m a member of Miracle House Guild with Seattle Children’s Hospital. I participate in many charity races and fundraisers for breast cancer, leukemia and pediatric brain cancer.

I’m a make up junkie, movie-buff and foodie. I also kind of enjoy shoes, handbags and fashion bargains. Vintage makes me a little giddy.

I really have no idea what I’m doing. Just putting my words together to make conversation, entertain and enlighten a little if I’m lucky!

Life is a banquet, and more people need to LIVE, LIVE, LIVE! That’s what Auntie Mame would say.

I pretty much like to think I’m starring in my own movie. It’s a movie in my head but I have a soundtrack and everything.  I would also like to be in a music video, but I think my children would die of humiliation.

I’m just an all around perfectly balanced woman who really has a grasp on life, happiness and the universe. (This is where you learn my sarcasm.) I am the complete opposite of this. I’m happy most of the time (with medication), I never have enough time for all the lounging I want to do and I haven’t lost my baby weight yet. Yes, my son is 8. Whatever.

I am not writing a book. I have never been published in anything. People ask me if I’m paid to blog. To my husbands dismay, I am not. I am willing though to take any contributions by way of makeup, skin care, or house cleaning. I’m not sure if that’s legal, but no one needs to know.

Sara Mitchell - Lifestyle Contributor

Sarah MitchellIdentity is impossible to define in any amount of words, but I will do my best to paint a picture. To begin, I should say that after 24 years I am not sure who I am, but I am also no longer trying to figure that out. For a long time I was certain I was supposed to “find myself” but really what does that even mean? Other grand questions like why do we exist? Or, what’s the meaning of life? Seem to be futile as well.  This is not to say I have an apathetic view or empty sense of being, but rather I have chosen to focus on the Here and Now, to find myself really doesn’t mean much if I don’t enjoy who I am along the way. So there it is, my thesis for living- be the kind of person I can be confident in and proud of, one day at a time.

Some may assume that in my early twenties I lack much life experience, to that I sigh longingly and say I wish. The truth is I matured more between the ages of 20 and 22 than most do in a decade. After years of battling an ongoing eating disorder I finally hit my low, checking myself first into a day program facility and eventually escalating into residential treatment for 8 weeks. What began as the worst year of my life somehow turned into a turning point. Years of lying about food, abusing my body, and deceiving those who loved me still haunt me but instead of fixating on the guilt and being weighed down in bad memories I apply sarcasm to most eating situations. From years of therapy and what felt like endless doctor’s appointments I like to think I came out recovered, but realistically I know I will always be fighting the residual routines of my eating disorder. But those years do no define me. I refuse to be the girl who once was sick, just as I am not keen on people telling me I am strong because of what I went through. It’s a part of my past, something we all have; I just choose to write about mine to help others, not to feel strength in who I am today.

I am stubborn. This is something I can’t deny and for the sake of argument not always a bad thing. It has helped me pursue many desires over the years, including my move to Boston where I received a degree in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College. If a place could be accredited with transforming me the city of Boston deserves the title. I truly felt the most at home as a creative individual, and explorer while there. Being stubborn has also bit me in the ass from time to time; leading me to make mistakes and occasionally have regrets- as much as I try not to it’s human to look back with some sadness.

For a long time I classified myself as a serial dater, not as ominous or illegal as a serial killer this self title was earned after years of detached dating. This led to my year of no dating on NoMrDarcy.com, or, I should call it my attempt at a year of no dating.

I wasn’t always happy and I don’t assume I will be happy every second, I know my lows and I hold onto my highs. Moments ebb and flow and learning how to sit with emotion till it passes is more applicable than anything I ever learned in school. Most of the time all I can do is laugh while I roll with the punches and hope that I’m still smiling tomorrow.
I am Sara Mitchell, 24, and a resident of Columbus, OH.

Kathryn Petro - Humor Lifestyle Contributor

Kathryn PetroI drink unfiltered water.Straight from the tap. I don’t believe in bottled water. Its just overpriced liquid that originates in a slimy bath of fish pee and fungus. So when it comes to filtering my take on life, I think it’s just like the fake spin these companies put on their water.  It’s the dressed up, photo shopped version of life that everyone hides behind.  Like when you pass your boss on the street and they ask “Hi! How are you?” and you just say “Great and you?”  When in reality your car broke down on the way to work and you had to call your ex boyfriend because he’s the only one in town who can tell the difference between a car jack and a jumper cable.

Growing up, I never thought about being in the entertainment industry. Coming from a conservative family, it was pretty much a given I’d go to college, major in business and get a job. Simple plan, but if you know anything about me simple is not the term that comes to mind.  After a short stint at a bank, a friend of mine recommended I apply to Clear Channel for a change of pace and work in radio.  Within a few months, I was not only promoted to a traffic director position, but I was “KP the Gossip Girl” on Redman’s Morning Show on WBWR.  When the fan mail came through, it became my daily mission to find the quirkiest information that I could twist with my own spunky sense of humor.  When the economy suffered, Redman’s show was cancelled.  I didn’t let that “Gossip Girl” in me fade.  I found Facebook as the perfect outlet for my daily rants.  After three loyal years at Clear Channel, it was time for me to move on.  I began searching for a job in television or radio where I could expand my marketing and social skills.  I went to networking events, joined multiple clubs, and sought out any events going on downtown to keep with the Columbus scene.  While this didn’t lead to a job, it helped me realize how much I loved this city and my passion for entertainment.

I am currently employed at Baesman.  I design promotional emails for our clients.  Although I love the creative spin, I still long for the interaction with people.  I spend all of my free time browsing the web to find out what’s going on after work in town.  I am always the first of my friends to know about the newest restaurant or the concerts going on this weekend.  I never slow down.  I think I’d be the perfect face for JaneTV and Columbus, Ohio.  My friends come to me for advice on every matter because out of everyone, I’ve been through it all.  I’ve been cheated on, I’ve been laid off, I’ve been in counseling, I’ve been with a married man.  I tell it like it is because I believe filters are completely overrated.
